The NSBE NYC Professionals chapter has developed some of NSBE’s most prolific leaders over the years. Some of those leaders are sadly no longer with us, so we pay them homage here. We remember their dedication to the organization throughout their lives and the lasting impact they’ve had on membership, particularly in Region One. The legacy of our past leaders and friends will never be forgotten.
One FIYAH!
David G. Seegobin
David was born in Queens, New York. He grew up in a loving home with two older brothers and one younger brother who he called “My Popo” He attended PS 117 Queens and went onto 217 Queens. He graduated from Hill Crest High School where he was on the varsity baseball team. He loved baseball as everyone knows and was always a diehard Yankees fan. After graduating high school he attended New York Institute of Technology where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science in Computer Technology. He later went on to complete his Masters degree in Computer Science. Thereafter, he completed his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) also at NYIT.
Later on, he joined his mother in the life insurance and investment business. During this time in his career he focused on helping others protect their love ones and achieve their goals. David was a very caring, loving person who wanted to see people succeed. One of his passions was helping people less fortunate than himself to achieve their aspirations. He was an instrumental member of the National Society of Black Engineers. He was known as “Mr. Carnival” and the “BBQ King” of Queens to his fellow NSBE family.
Dave (aka Big Trini, Fatts/ Fat Cat, Cuz, PITA) will be forever remembered as a favorite son and brother to the family he adored and who adored him, to his cousins who he brought together and whose lives he played a central, integral role in; and to his friends, colleagues and all those whose lives he chose to touch. His memory will remain to us all a person who was a solid link between his family & friends, always finding time to visit and be with his people all over the world. His positivity was contagious – he had the ability to make anyone around him smile, laugh and be uplifted. He was an example to follow; giving of his love, time, skill, advice and help selflessly and wholeheartedly, all the while glowing of energy and good thoughts. It will never be goodbye to Dave, those gifts that he shared with us will live on in our memory with those who are left behind….
