How can I join the NSBE NYC Professionals chapter?
Joining is simple. From the “Membership” section of the navigation bar on our site, select “Join” and select or add the “Yearly Subscription” to your cart. Complete the process by checking out and paying for your 1 year membership via Paypal or credit card. The current rate for yearly membership is $50 and is subject to change.Â
What are the requirements to become or join the NSBE NYC Professionals chapter?
To become a member NSBE NYC, you should fit or meet the following criteria:
- Professional Members should have received a BS or advanced degree (or pursuing an advanced degree) in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Computer Science or one of the Applied Physical Sciences.
- Affiliate Members do not hold a technical degree as required for Professional Members but have registered as members and paid the annual membership fee.
- Honorary Members are not defined as Professional or Affiliate members but have contributed through efforts in support of the NSBE NYC Professionals mission and has been voted in by majority of the Chapter Executive Officers.Â
What’s the difference between local and national membership?
To become an official member of NSBE, you must join both on the national and local level. National dues are paid to the national NSBE organization via the website, nsbe.org. On that site, you define what type of membership you’re requesting, in this case professional, find the “New York City Professionals XL Chapter” when prompted and complete the payment process. You should receive a NSBE ID which you’ll need/use in the future when registering for conferences such as the PDC (Professional Development Conference) or National Convention. Once you’ve secured your national membership, you can join a local professional chapter or in this case, the NSBE New York City (NSBE NYC) Professionals aka the XL Chapter. You can join the NSBE NYC chapter by following the instructions outlined in the previous question above.
