Stem Saturday Structure & Design

May 3 @ 7:30 am - 1:30 pm

Free
Program Overview

As a volunteer, you’ll have the exciting opportunity to inspire and mentor youth scholars as they design, build, and test their very own wooden structures. Volunteers play a crucial role in sparking curiosity and confidence in STEM—helping each child discover their potential to thrive in science, technology, engineering, and math.

What does the day look like for a STEM Saturday volunteer?
7:30am CHECK IN – Volunteers start the day by clocking in, making a name tag, and enjoying a light, complimentary breakfast.
8a – 8:30am GROUP TRAINING – Join fellow volunteers for a quick, energizing training led by our program leaders. You’ll get a full rundown of the day, learn more about STEM Global Action mission, and feel fully prepped for success.
8:30am ATTENDEE ARRIVAL – As students begin arriving, volunteers should be stationed at their activity tables, getting familiar with the setup and materials. Instructional guides will be provided, and STEM Global Action staff will be on hand to support you.
9a PROGRAM INTRODUCTION – Dr. Mackie will kick off the program with opening remarks before releasing the attendees to explore.
9:30a – 12:30p ACTIVITY TIME – Time to lead your group of scholars as they dive into their building challenge. You’ll encourage creativity, answer questions, and cheer them on as they test their ideas. Parents will remain in the viewing area during this time.
12:30 – 1:30p BREAKDOWN – Wrap up by packing your station into the provided tote under your table.
  • Professional volunteers are free to head out after cleanup.
  • College student volunteers will assist with final breakdown of the space.
